Fiddle player Susan
Conger is February Song & Story Swap guest
Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the February
Pioneer Valley Folklore
Society SONG & STORY SWAP.
Friday, February 9,
7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Black Sheep Café, 79 Main
St., Amherst, Mass.
Our
guest artist this month is Susan Conger, talented and indefatigable fiddle
player and member of the contra dance bands, Soozarama, Three
Good Reasons and Spare Parts. In 1999 she edited and
published Along the River, a
collection of dance tunes written in the last 25 years by musicians from
the Connecticut River Valley. Her most recent project, newly
released, is the Along the
River CD, which features 8 Valley musicians and 28 tunes from the
book.
The Song & Story Swap is an event where people of all ages gather to share stories and songs that may be
traditional, newly written, or of personal experiences. You can tell,
sing, or lead everyone in singing, play an instrument or request a song or
story. Listeners are welcome, too. Admission is free, with
donations accepted.
The warm-up theme for
the month is Sweethearts.
The PVFS Song & Story Swap happens the 2ND FRIDAY of
every month. For information contact Paul Kaplan, (413)-253-9484 or
Jeff Lee, (413)-256-0433 or visit http://www.filbert.com/pvfs.
