May 11 Song & Story Swap will feature Sue Kranz & Ben Tousley Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the May Pioneer Valley Folklore Society SONG & STORY SWAP. Friday, May 11, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Black Sheep Café, 79 Main St., Amherst, Mass. May's guests will be Boston-based duo Sue Kranz and Ben Tousley. They bring beautiful harmonies to stirring ballads, anthems and singalongs for an uplifting evening of song. Singing together since 1986 and playing flute and guitar, Sue and Ben have collaborated on several recordings and have appeared in coffeehouses throughout New England. The Song & Story Swap is an event where people of all ages gather to share stories and songs that may be traditional, newly written, or of personal experiences. You can tell, sing, or lead everyone in singing, play an instrument or request a song or story. Listeners are welcome, too. Admission is free, with donations accepted. The warm-up theme for the month is Land. The PVFS Song & Story Swap happens the 2ND FRIDAY of every month. For information contact Paul Kaplan, (413)-253-9484 or Jeff Lee, (413)-256-0433 or visit http://www.filbert.com/pvfs. Whither Zither - monthly column by Peter Berryman Fans of Wisconsin duo Lou & Peter Berryman, whom PVFS has presented in concert the past three years, may enjoy checking out Whither Zither, the monthly column that Peter Berryman contributes to the Madison Folk Music Society's newsletter, Mad Folk News. Like his song lyrics, Peter's articles cover a galaxy of topics, frequently reflecting his fascination and penchant for wordcraft. The June 1999 edition of Whither Zither is of particular local interest as it relates Peter Berryman's meeting with Greenfield songwriter, Lorre Wyatt.
