Lou & Peter
Berryman, when they will make a concert stop at the UU Meetinghouse in

played to full rooms on all four of their previous visits to the
area.

New Releases from

Cliff Eberhardt - School For Love
Nimble-fingered guitar player Cliff Eberhardt, who
calls Williamsburg home, is a gifted songwriter whose compositions have
been recorded by luminaries like Richie Havens, Buffy Sainte-Marie and
Carl Perkins. He has released his sixth CD,
School For Love on
Red House Records, and it is packed with gems. Rocking Sugartown
has been getting good air play, while the
title track
,
ranks with his finest earlier love ballads such as That Kind of Love
and Goodnight. The disc is bolstered by the backup
playing of such musical stalwarts as Dar Williams, Mark Erelli, Jim Henry and Jeff Pevar.
Lou's Reviews — La Bottine Souriante
On September 27, I drove to Hanover, New Hampshire for a two-hour
concert at Dartmouth College by Quebec’s legendary nonet, La Bottine
Souriante. Now in its 27th year, the group, which translates as “the
smiling boot,” has its roots in Quebec-Celtic reels, jigs, and irreverent
call-and-response burlesques. In 1990, La Bottine, which had comprised
traditional folk instruments, incorporated a four-piece horn section.
There had never been anything like that hybrid before and as far as I know
there’s never been anything else quite like it since. Dirty Linen
has called La Bottine the best band in the world. The BBC once named it
the world’s best “live” ensemble. My own impressions and critique will
appear on this Web site under reviews in
about a week. All that I have to say in advance is that la joie de
vivre is for real.
