Peter Siegel will be Sept. 10 Song & Story Swap guest at the Nacul Center

Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the September Pioneer Valley Folklore Society SONG & STORY SWAP.

Sunday, September 10, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the The Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst, Mass.

Please note that the Song & Story Swap is now held on the second Sunday of each month at The Nacul Center (see map).

Peter Siegel will perfomr at the Nacul Center in Amherst on Sept. 10

Guest performer will be the versatile roots & bluegrass musician-songwriter Peter Siegel.

Peter Siegel's performances can be enjoyed in many shapes and sizes.  In addition to touring the country as a soloist, he is one-third of the old-time trio Underbelly and he heats up contradances as string-man in the popular Greenfield Dance Band. Adept on the guitar, banjo, mandolin and bodhran, Peter has won acclaim as a thoughtful and humorous songwriter with an irrepressible social conscience.

His most recent solo CDs are Move the Mob and the 2004 release The Show, songs from which helped him win the 2005 WRSI Singer-songwriter Contest. Come to the pleasant acoustic surroundings of the Nacul Center to hear the artist whom folk musician Tao Rodriguez-Seeger has called "one of the best songwriters of my generation."

Find out more about Peter Siegel at http://www.petersiegel.com.

The warm-up theme this month is Art.  Thomas Cole's View from Mount Holyoke, Northampton, Massachusetts, after a Thunderstorm (The Oxbow)

The PVFS Song & Story Swap happens the 2ND SUNDAY of every month.  For information contact Paul Kaplan, (413)-253-9484 or Jeff Lee, (413)-256-0433 or visit http://www.filbert.com/pvfs.

Song & Story Swap moves to The Nacul Center

The Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst, MA

After a six-month stint at the Harp Irish Pub we are packing up our tent and moving to a new home in the Nacul Center near downtown Amherst.  We would like to thank Mark "Harpo" Power and his very gracious staff at the Harp for hosting us.  If it weren't for the opportunity to meet at an in-town location with a dedicated performance space we would be gathering at the cozy Irish pub still.

We are excited to be able to hold the Song & Story Swap at The Nacul Center, a one-time Methodist church that has been remodeled into studio and gallery space.  The building is located at 592 Main St. about a half-mile from our former meeting place, the Black Sheep Cafe, and is about 2 blocks east of the Amherst train station.  See the map for details and directions.

The Nacul Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to a philosophy of ecological architecture and sustainable community.  We learned from owner and architect Tullio Inglese that Nacul is a word that represents a combination of "nature" and "culture."

The Song & Story Swap will continue to take place on the Second Sunday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m.
