Andrew lawrence will join September 6 Song & Story Swap

Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the Pioneer Valley Folklore Society Song & Story Swap.

Andrew Lawrence will join September 6 Song & Story Swap at the nacul Center in AmherstSaturday, September 6 , 7:00-9:30 p.m. at the The Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst, Mass (see map).

Please note that the Song & Story Swap has moved to the first Saturday of each month.

"What makes for a great jam?" That's the question guitarist, teacher and songwriter Andrew Lawrence will address as guest artist at the Song and Story Swap on September 6.

The answer, he says, is twofold: the right songs and the right instrumental skills. We'll explore both in this participatory presentation, so bring by all means your instrument. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to connect more deeply with others through shared music-making.

Andrew Lawrence is the founder of Community Guitar (formerly The Acoustic Guitar Network), an instructional program for adult guitarists who want to focus on playing with others rather than alone. Community Guitar classes are offered in Northampton, Amherst and Brattleboro.

He is also an accomplished singer-songwriter, having recorded two well-received CDs, Some Windows and Point of Contact.  Andrew Lawrence is the organizer of the annual Django in June festival in Northampton honoring the style of Gypsy Jazz guitar legend Django Reinhardt.

The warm-up theme this month is Love. Love

The Song & Story Swap is open to the public, free of charge with donations accepted.  People of all ages gather to share stories and songs that are traditional, newly written, or of personal experiences. You can tell, sing, or lead everyone in singing, or request a song or story.  Listeners are welcome.
