Small Change will be featured performers on Oct. 2 Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the Pioneer Valley Folklore Society Song & Story Swap. Saturday, October 2, 7:00 p.m. at the The Nacul Center, 592 Main St., Amherst, Mass (see map). Guest performers for the October 2 Song & Story Swap will be the foursome Small Change. Possessing an amalgamation of musical tastes, Greenfield-based Small Change offers up a unique and original blend of music. Their repertoire ranges from the classic to the obscure, with a smattering of original songs by guitarist Al Canali. Their unique sound is bolstered by the talents of wash tub bass player Dick Boehmer, who is said to get more out of one string than most get out of four. The band's performances have run the gamut of concert venues — clubs, festivals, radio and a part in a PBS television production called From Folk To Baroque with fiddler/violinist Marie Rhines. Please be our guest on the first Saturday of October when they add the PVFS Song & Story Swap to the list. The theme this month is Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie. The Song & Story Swap is open to the public, free of charge with donations accepted. People of all ages gather to share stories and songs that are traditional, newly written, or of personal experiences. You can tell, sing, or lead everyone in singing, or request a song or story. Listeners are welcome. For information contact Paul Kaplan at (413)-687-5002 or visit http://www.filbert.com/pvfs
