Richard Evers will be
July 12 Song & Story Swap guest
Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the July
Pioneer Valley Folklore
Society SONG & STORY SWAP.
Friday, July
12,
7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Black Sheep Café, 79 Main
St., Amherst, Mass.
Appearing as guest will be folk, roots and blues singer,
Richard Evers.
A lover of roots music, Richard Evers was born and
raised in Texas, and has lived in New York City, Northern California, the
South, New Orleans and now Brattleboro, Vermont, and his songs evoke these
places. He also writes and performs original songs and parodies which
reveal a personal flourish and quirky sense of humor.
Substituting this month for vacationing regular
host, Paul Kaplan, will be Elizabeth Farnsworth, a captivating chanteuse
from Royalston, Mass.
The Song & Story Swap is an event where people of all ages gather to share stories and songs that may be
traditional, newly written, or of personal experiences. You can tell,
sing, or lead everyone in singing, play an instrument or request a song or
story. Listeners are welcome, too. Admission is free, with
donations accepted.
The warm-up theme this month is Roots.
Please note that there will be no Song
& Story Swap in August as we take our summer break.
Otherwise, the PVFS Song & Story Swap happens the 2ND FRIDAY of
every month. For information contact Paul Kaplan, (413)-253-9484 or
Jeff Lee, (413)-256-0433 or visit http://www.filbert.com/pvfs.
G.A.I.A sponsors

Sunday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Spirit of the Heart, 47 Market St., Northampton,

Vision Music Festival, a festival of world music performances and drum
circles held at the Northampton Airport, Rt. 9, Northampton, MA.
Drums
Around the World is part of a simultaneous international drumming
day. A 2-day free festival will be held August 24-25 on the Amherst

Amandla Chorus seeks
basses
Calling all basses! The Amandla
Community Chorus seeks bass vocalists to join us. We've been singing
throughout the Pioneer Valley and beyond for 15 years, with an eclectic
repertoire of international, classical, folk, and gospel songs as well as
original pieces. We rehearse once a week in Greenfield, MA. For more
information, call Eveline MacDougall, Director, at 413-773-8655.
Lou's Reviews –
Wayne Shorter Quartet
Lou
Wigdor's musical meanderings took him to Hartford's Bushnell Auditorium
last month where he caught a performance by enigmatic jazz great, Wayne
Shorter, and the supporting members of his quartet.
Read all about it in The
Masqualero Returns.
