Polly Fiveash and Anand Nayak will join July 11 Song & Story Swap

Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the May Pioneer Valley Folklore Society SONG & STORY SWAP.

Polly Fiveash & Anand Nayak at the Black Sheep on July 11Friday, July 11, 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Black Sheep Café, 79 Main St., Amherst, Mass.  

Guest performers this month will be the singer-songwriter ensemble Polly Fiveash & Anand Nayak. 

Polly has been an avid vocalist since her childhood, singing everything from early music to gospel. Anand's musical resumé includes singing in professional a capella groups, and playing guitar and touring nationally with the popular string band, Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem. Together Polly and Anand's artistic chemistry produces alluring harmonies and personal and poetic songs that linger well beyond the final note.

Bomba Le Le by Jose Gonzalez & Criola Clasico

José González Y Banda Criolla

Acclaimed cuatro player José González and his group Banda Criolla have released their fifth recording, Bomba Le Lé.  The disk is veritable summer salad of Latin rhythms — Bomba, Jibaro, Salsa, Son, Flamenco, Samba, Bachata and Bolero all inspiring the mix.

The title cut has been selected to appear in the Putumayo anthology, Latin Rhythms.

Gambling Eden by Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem

Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem

Swinging string band Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem has come out with its second CD on the Signature Sounds label.  Gambling Eden, which has been described as "folk roots groove music,"  was recorded earlier this year at the Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, New York.  Rani Arbo's adept singing and fiddle playing is augmented by the talents of former Salamander Crossing bandmate Andrew Kinsey, guitarist and vocalist Anand Nayak, and percussionist Scott Kessel.
