The featured performer at the December 5 Song & Story Swap will be singer-songwriter Lara Herscovitch.
A deft song spinner and poetess, Lara Herscovitch's musical career has undergone a steady upward trajectory. Since graduating from the University of Massachusetts with a political science degree, Lara Herscovitch has combined her singer-songwriter talents with work in the pursuit of social change for organizations such as Save the Children and the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance. Her growing musical resumé includes emerging artist showcase performances at the Falcon Ridge and Telluride Bluegrass Festivals, an appearance on "A Prairie Home Companion," and being named the Connecticut State Troubadour.
Three years ago Lara gave up professional non-profit work to focus full-time on music. She has released eight recordings, the most recent being Highway Philosophers which she has called "an album of the hero’s journey and all the different elements of it." Prompting words of acclaim wherever she plays, Lara is the cover musician on this month's edition of Soundwaves Magazine.
Lara Herscovitch possesses, in the words of the Boston Globe, "a luminous voice and a buoyant stage presence." In recent months she has focused on strengthening her technical side, enabling her to give standout virtual performances. Register for the December 5 Song & Story Swap at pvfs.us and see for yourself.
