Jennie McAvoy will join Apr. 6 Song & Story Swap

Please come share in an evening of music and stories at the Pioneer Valley Folklore Society Song & Story Swap.

Saturday, April 6, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at First Church, 165 Main St., Amherst, MA. Free parking is available in back of the church, and the meeting room is near the front.

Trained as a mezzo-soprano, Jennie is a polished traditional ballad singer whose rock-solid voice is deftly complemented by superb acoustic guitar fingerpicking. She is a discriminating song collector with a repertoire that spans centuries. Eleven of her favorites may be heard on her CD, "So Long on the Flood," on which she is backed up by guitar master, Brooks Williams.

Jennie McAvoy was born in New York City, raised in the Hudson River Valley, and now makes South Deerfield, Massachusetts, her home. On April 6 she plans to present a set of ballads and topical songs inspired by the complexities of relationships.

Catch Jennie McAvoy at the First Church in Downtown Amherst on April 6 at 7pm.
